Snow cream is a fun treat to make during the winter, and a great reason to welcome fresh snow! Snow cream is like ice cream made with snow, and it’s so easy to make. What you’ll need is plain sugar, vanilla, heavy cream, a big bowl, and fresh snow. Even though snow isn’t technically a “weed,” I’m going to put this in with the wild edibles because it’s something that is found in the wild, and it’s edible. There you go.
Here’s what you do:
1. Add a little vanilla (1-2 teaspoons) to the cream.
2. Scoop fresh snow into the big bowl, sprinkle with sugar, and continue to layer snow and sugar until the bowl is full.
3. Drizzle the cream over the snow while stirring and mixing the snow.
I like to top my snow cream with chocolate syrup, and you could certainly add other flavors or extracts to the cream before mixing it into the snow. Mint, hazelnut, strawberry, ….whatever you like. You could also add your favorite ice cream toppings and make a snow cream sundae! Just like with any bowl of ice cream, snow cream can be as simple or doctored as you like. Have fun with it!
My family and I wish you a fun-filled winter, a very blessed Christmas and a Happy New year! 🙂
